Educational and Developmental Psychology Assessments
At Palm Tree Psychology, we offer a variety of Educational and Developmental Psychology Assessments for
children, adolescents and adults.
Educational and Developmental Psychology Assessments can help us to understand a person’s brain style, learning needs, and social, emotional and behavioural functioning. Assessments may also help to uncover specific diagnoses.

An assessment to investigate Learning Difficulties/Specific Learning Disorders (SLD [e.g. Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia]) can help clarify the right interventions, adjustments and accommodations a student requires at school and/or other learning environments.

ADHD is a neurodivergent brain difference that is often characterised by differences in attention, impulsivity, and energy regulation. People with ADHD tend to think and process information in unique, non-linear ways, which can make them highly creative, curious, and adaptive. Rather than viewing ADHD as a "deficit" or "disorder," a neuroaffirming perspective recognises it as a part of human diversity, with strengths and challenges. Support, accommodations, and understanding can help people with ADHD thrive in their own way.
-
Autism, or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), is a natural variation in how people experience, process, and interact with the world. It affects communication, sensory experiences, and social connection, often leading to unique strengths like deep focus, creativity, and a passion for specific interests. A neuroaffirming perspective views Autism as a valuable part of human diversity, not something to "fix." Instead, it emphasises understanding, acceptance, and creating inclusive environments that celebrate autistic strengths and support individual needs.

This assessment can be helpful in investigating a diagnosis of Intellectual Developmental Delay (previously referred to as Intellectual Disability).

These assessments can be valuable for students about to start Primary School or High School, though a cognitive assessment is useful at any stage of a person’s academic journey.
